Key Tasks & Responsibilities

As part of our clients growing Transport Planning business you can be expected to be involved in projects across a range of sectors including residential, employment, education, commercial, energy as well as master planning. Projects also include brief specific responses to clients who may have concerns regarding parking, safety, access or sustainable travel opportunities.

· You will typically work as part of a multi-disciplinary design team helping to identify and design the most appropriate transport solutions and strategies for any given situation.

· You will be responsible for supporting and in some cases leading the delivery of projects and providing technical contributions to their specialist Transport Planning team in preparing Transport Assessments/Statements and Travel Plans along with other outputs such as Parking Management Strategies, Town Centre Studies and Accessibility Planning analysis.

· You will research and commission discrete tasks and data collection exercises, attend public consultation events, liaise with project delivery teams and clients, deputising for the Team Leader where necessary.

· The right candidate will also be able to support the day to day activities of more junior team members.

· The right candidate will also be given the opportunity to research and develop new areas of the Transport Planning business and will be expected to develop relationships with our existing and new client base in time.

Person Specification


· BSc / BA in discipline that can demonstrate need for good communication, clear report writing, data analysis and critical thinking.

· Member of CIHT, TPS (or equivalent body); chartered or working towards chartered status.

· Proficient in the use of industry software; ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRICS and AutoCAD.

· Industry Software TRACC, GIS, TRANSYT, VISSIM would be desirable.

· IT literate; proficient in Microsoft Office.

· Knowledge of the planning system (borough, local authority and national policy).

Skills and Abilities:

· Experience in a similar role is desirable.

· Understanding of highway design principles.

· Strong report writing skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communicator.

· Excellent numeracy, communication, time management and organisational skills

Personal Qualities:

· Confident and self-motivated.

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, collaborators and colleagues.

· Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
