Specialising in a broad range of heavy steel forgings and steel castings as well as stocking steel ingot and bar.

What does the role involve day to day?

A vacancy has arisen for an apprentice trained electrical engineer to join our team in the Machine Shops.

As electrical engineer you will provide fault finding and diagnosis of machine tool control system faults and issues (Siemens and Heidenhein).

You will be responsible for ensuring machine uptime by providing a quick response and robust root cause action to prevent repeat breakdowns, ensuring safe working at all times.

You will maintain all plant equipment including DC & AC cranes and new installations and work to PPM systems.

What are we looking for from applicants?

To be considered for the position it is essential that candidates have the following attributes:

  • Apprentice Trained Electrician
  • 17th Edition Regulations
  • A full understanding of health and safety and the ability to work safely
  • Extensive experience in a machine tool environment
  • Previous experience in a heavy engineering environment
  • Initiative & confidence to work as an individual
  • Willing to work shifts and unsociable hours
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work at height and in confined spaces

It is advantageous that candidates have:

  • IOSH Working Safely
  • Skills/ Knowledge of Siemens 840D Solution Line control systems
  • Skills/ Knowledge of Heidenhein control systems

Contract type: 39 hours on average per week, 3 shift pattern; Mornings 06:00 -13:00 (Wednesday 06:00 - 14:00), Afternoons 13:00 - 20:00 (Wednesday 14:00 -20:00), Nights 20:00 - 06:00. Rota: 2 Mornings /3 Nights - 3 Afternoon/2 Mornings - 2 Nights /3 Afternoons
